This is a policy establishing a procedure for checking controlled substance prescriptions (CSP), monitoring changes in CSP, documenting concerns, clearing red flags, verifying and reporting to PDMP.
The document describes proper steps for dispensing CSP, such as key considerations involved in each step and responsible personnel.
It also describes prevention techniques, proper ordering patterns, accessing and storing controlled substances, performing employee background checks, and retaining records.
